Shabbat Magic
Is Captured

The Jewish Federation Women's
Campaign and Education
Department will host a rekindling
Shabbat lunch and learn presenta-
tion, "Capturing the Magic of
Shabbat," at noon Tuesday, Jan. 19,
at the Max M. Fisher Jewish
Federation Building, 6735
Telegraph, Bloomfield Township.
Guest speakers will be Rabbi Asher
Lopatin and Rachel Tessler Lopatin.
Lopatin is rabbi of Anshe Sholom
B'nai Israel Congregation in Chicago.
He is a Rhodes Scholar and Wexner
Fellow.
A native of West Bloomfield,
Lopatin is a Wexner Fellow and pro-
gram director at Anshe Emet
Synagogue in Chicago.
A kosher luncheon will be served at
a charge of $10 per person. The reser-
vation deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Temple Beth El
Adult Education

Jan. 6 will Mark the beginning of a
second semester of adult education at
Temple Beth El.
Students may begin or continue

their study of Hebrew in one of four
10-week courses. A beginning class,
Hebrew I, will be offered 8 p.m.
Wednesdays. Students who have
mastered the alphabet and basic
vocabulary may elect Hebrew II at
11 a.m. or 7 p.m. Wednesdays.
Hebrew III, a class exploring basic
grammar and vocabulary will be
offered 10:45 a.m. Wednesdays.
Students interested in reading short
stories and increasing vocabulary
skills may elect Conversational
Hebrew 8 p.m. Wednesdays. Cost
for each of the classes is $50 for
temple members and $65 for non-
members.
Additional Wednesday courses
include "Torah in Depth," an inten-
sive examination of Torah passages,
providing relevancy to modern times
at 7 p.m. Offered at 8 p.m. will be .
"Prayerbook Basics" with Rabbi Sheila
Goloboy.
Offered monthly will be a
Thursday lunch and learn at 11:45
a.m. Presented by the temple staff
and leadership, the class is $15 for
members and $18 for non-members.

Jews of India" with Elizabeth Bit,. ■ 1
Feb. 1 1: "100 Books for Jewish
-Readers" with Rabbi Daniel Symt.,
March 11: "The Passover Seder
Through Song" with Cantor

Right to Die" with Rabbi David
Castiglione; May 13: "God in T; nec.
