Temple Beth El was one of many locations that hosted a to drive to benefit
Southfield-based Orchards Children's Services. Rabbi Sheila Goloboy, Cantor
Stephen Dubov, Elizabeth Bloch, director of education for Temple Beth El, and
Nancy Singer, toy drive chairperson, are standing withgifts donated. Orchards
Children's Services had a successful toy drive to benefit foster care and homeless
children throughout the metropolitan area. Orchards Children Services is still

Israeli House
Marks Opening
The Israeli House of Metro Detroit
will hold its opening event 8 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Kahn Jewish
Community Center.
The Israeli House is a program for
Israelis and Americans who want to
strengthen their connection to Israel
through cultural and social events.
The opening event will include the
lighting of the first Chanukah candle,
a sing-along with Danny Katz and
refreshments including latkes and suf-
ganiyot (jelly doughnuts).
Admission fee is $5; proceeds will
go to future Israeli House events. For

JCC Transports
Older Adults
The Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish
Community Center rransports older
adults to the Center in the morning
and returns them home mid-afternoon
in the new Mollie Mobile Van they
share with Jewish Family Services.
The van is available to take
seniors to and from the JPM on
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday. Transportation is not avail-
able on Tuesday. The van begins
picking up seniors at 9 a.m. and
transports them home at 2:30 p.m.
on all four days.
Bus tickets can be purchased at the
JPM front desk. The cost for members
is $20 for 20 rides; for non-members,
$30 for 20 rides. For information, call

Yad Ezra
Helps Needy
Yad Ezra will help provide
Chanukah packages for clients this
year. For a donation of $18, partici-
pants will enable needy client fami-
lies to receive a Chanukah package
which includes latkes, a menorah,
candles, chocolate treats and a drei-
del for the children.
Yad Ezra, the only kosher food
pantry in Michigan, services 1,000
families in the Detroit community
every month. As an independent orga-
nization, Yad Ezra relies on individual
contributions for its funding.

Michigan allows a 50 percent tax cred-
it for donations, subject to certain
limitations.
