Michael David Jurewicz will become
a bar mitzvah on Friday, Nov. 20, at
Temple Israel. He is the son of Risa
Jurewicz and Walter Jurewicz, brother
of Robert and Scott, and grandson of
Elaine Sollins and
Eleanor Jurewicz. He
is also the grandchild
of the late Stanley
Sollins and the late
Walter Jurewicz.
Mitzvah projects
involved volunteer-
ing for Meals on
Wheels and Yad
Ezra, housing the homeless at Temple
Israel, and the Tzedakah Fair; he also
assisted at the Temple Israel picnic. An
honors student at Orchard Lake Mid-
dle School in West Bloomfield,
Michael loves skiing, golf, roller-hock-
ey, tennis and swimming.

Jacob Steven Bishop will observe his
bar mitzvah ar Temple Israel on Friday,
Nov. 20. He is the son of Laurie Bishop
and Alan Bishop and brother of Stacy,
Chad, Adam and Nikki. Proud grand-
parents are Shelly and
Marvin Freedman
and Mildred Hocher-
man. Excited great-
grandmother is Mae
Forstadt. He is also
the grandson of the
late Robert Bishop
and the late Maurice
Alpert.
Volunteering at Yad Ezra was an
important mitzvah project, but he was
especially pleased to contribute to the
Cancer Society in memory of his
grandfathers. An Orchard Lake Mid-
dle School student in West Bloom-
field, Jacob is interested in hockey,
basketball and water sports.
Alexander Nathan Halpern will be
called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah
on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Temple Beth
El. He is the son of Joan and Paul
Halpern, brother of Emily, and grand-
son of Ruth and Robert Halpern of
Southampton, Pa.; and Josephine
Soboloff of Big Timber, Mont.
Alex is an honor
student at Bloom-
field Hills Middle
School in Bloomfield
Hills. He enjoys all
sports, especially soc-
cer and basketball.
Alex's mitzvah
projects include
packing food at Yad Ezra for those in
need, preparing and serving food at
COTS and helping in the restoration
of the library at the Glazer School.
Mindy Weinbaum of Bloomfield Hills
will be a bat mitzvah at Congregation
Beth Abraham Hillel Moses on Satur-
day, Nov. 21. Rabbi Aaron Bergman
will lead services. Participating in the
ceremony will be .parents Donald and
Ruth Weinbaum, brother Matt Wein-
baum and sister Jill
Weinbaum. Proud
grandparents are
Morris Tugman and
, Caroline Weinbaum.
Mindy also is the
granddaughter of the
late Sara Tugman
and the late Jack
Weinbaum.
Mindy is an honor student at Hillel
Day School in Farmington Hills. As
part of her mitzvah project, she
worked at Yad Ezra and JARC. She
loves to play basketball, swim and
dance. She has participated on the
soccer, cheerleading, cross country and
basketball teams.
Mindy has donated a portion of her
gifts to two charities: her grandmoth-
er's Sara Tugman Bais Chabad Torah
Center and Yad Ezra.
Ginette Elizabeth Kendler will cele-
brate her bat mitzvah at Temple Kol
Ami on Saturday, Nov. 21.
Ginette is the daughter of Debra
and Steven Kendler, sister to Courtney
and Max, and grand-
child of Audrey and
Harold Leider and
Rita Kendler and
Earl Kendler. She is
also the great-grand-
daughter of Max
Goldstein.
Ginette is a stu-
dent at O.E. Dunck-
el Middle School in Farmington Hills.
For the past two years, Ginette has
been a madricha at Temple Kol Ami
religious school. As part of her mitz-
vah project, she has donated her time
at the Yad Ezra Food Bank and has
spent time with the senior citizens at
the Hamilton House.
