Ohr Somayach Detroit will host
Rabbi Eliyahu Essas, faculty member
of Ohr Somayach Jerusalem, the
weekend of Nov. 27-29.
Eliyahu Essas, a brilliant mathe-
matician who had lost his job after
applying for aliyah, became the leader
of the largest group of Jewish refus-
niks in Moscow. As head of the
Jewish underground, he led a deter-
mined and quite remarkable battle to
keep the flame of Jewish education
glowing under the most oppressive
circumstances. Today, Rabbi Essas
lives in Jerusalem where he is the
director of Ohr Somayach's Russian
Language Department.
The weekend is being co-sponsored
by Ohr Somayach Detroit, Machon
I2Torah, Yeshiva Beth Yehudah, project
Achim and RETURN. For information

The Northwest Suburban Interfaith
Ministerial Association, Bloomfield
Community Television, and the
Ecumenical Institute for Jewish-
Christian Studies will host the taping of
the television show "What's Faith Got
To Do With It?" in which clergy
address faith issues form viewpoints of
their own religious traditions.
Moderated by Dr. Allan Eickelmann of
the congregational Church of Birming-
ham, this cable television program is
filmed in local houses of worship.
The public is invited to participate
in the next taping 7:30 p.m.
