LEON (YORKY) BIALES, 79, of
Seal Beach, Calif, died Nov. 3. He is
survived by his wife Ruth; daughter
and son-in-law Sharon and Richard
Sisler of Michigan; daughter-in-law
Peggy Biales of Texas; grandchildren,
Tammy and Steve Dines, Scott Sisler
and Lauren and Zachary Biales of
Texas; great-granddaughters, Saman-
tha and Brianna Dines; brother Sey-
mour Biales of Florida; brother and
sister-in-law, Saul and Ruth Biales of
North Carolina. Mr. Biales was the
loving father of the late Michael
Biales.
Interment in Austin, Texas. Contri-
butions may be made to a charity of
one's choice.

BARNET "BEN" BOOKSPAN, 89,
of Rochester Hills, died Nov. 6. For
over 40 years, Mr. Bookspan was a
pharmacist with three stores. In the
1960's, he went into commercial prop-
erty real estate and retired in the
1980's. Mr. Bookspan came to Detroit
at the age of six or seven. He was able
to put his brother, Saulie, through
medical school and his sister, Nora,
through college to become a teacher.
He is survived by his son and
daughter-in-law, Mark and Deborah
Bookspan of Rochester Hills and
grandson, Mark Alan Bookspan. Mr.
Bookspan was the beloved husband of
the late Gay Bookspan and the loving
brother of the late Pauline Richmond,
the late Louie Bookspan and the late
Saulie Bookspan.
Interment at Machpelah Cemetery.
Contributions may be directed to a
charity of one's choice. Arrangemen'ts
by Ira Kaufman Chapel.
JAMES BROWNSTEIN, 64, of
Farmington Hills, died Nov. 5. Mr.
Brownstein was a food broker for Paul
Inman & Associates. He is survived by
his brother and sister-in-law, Ellis and
Ruth Brownstein of Livonia; nieces
and nephews, Leslie and Dr. Mark
Rosenwasser, Linda and Ronald Laird,
Dr. David and Allison Brownstein;
great-nephews and great-nieces, Adam
and Bradley Rosenwasser, Sarah,
Emily, Veronica and Molly Laird and
Hailey and Jess Brownstein.
Interment at Hebrew Memorial
Park. Arrangements by Ira Kaufman

SYLVIA WOLIN DUBIN, 84, of
Bloomfield Hills, died Nov. 7. She is
survived by her daughter and son-in-
law, Michele and Max Dubrinsky of
Bloomfield Hills; sisters and brother-
in-law, Ann Rudolph of Southfield,
Eva and Dave Sefansky of Southfield;
daughter-in-law, Gail Wolin; grand-
children, Ilyssa and Richard Nowak,
Darin Kanfer, Jason Kanfer, Andrew
Kanfer; great-granddaughter, Jerri-
Lynn Nowak. Mrs. Wolin was the
beloved wife of the late David Wolin;
loving mother of the late Gerald
Wolin; loving sister-in-law of the late
Leo Rudolph.

MIRIAM FREEMAN, 93, formerly
of Oak Park of Tarzana, Calif, died
Oct. 28. She is survived by her daugh-
ter, Adell White of Sarasota, Fla.; son
and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Joan
Freeman of West Hills, Calif.; grand-
children, Marc White, David and
Shelley White, Janis White and
Richard Silverstein, Carol Goodman,
Eddie Freeman, Dan and Mary Stein-
hardt; great-grandchildren, Bridget
Goodman, Phillip Goodman, Samuel
White, Anne Steinhardt, David Stein-
hardt. She was the beloved wife of the
late Eli Freeman; mother of the late
Shirley Steinhardt; grandmother of the
late Larry Freeman and Susan Free-
man. All who knew her loved her
dearly.
Services and interment were held in
California.
ADELAIDE HELPERT of Bloom-
field Hills, died Nov. 6. Ms. Helpert
was in sales for Lane Bryant Clothes.
She was also a member of Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek. Ms. Helpert is
survived by her brother, Sidney
Helpert of Southfield; sister, Isabel .
Orley of Southfield; nephew and
nieces, Robert and Michelle Littman,
Shirley Bender; great nephews and
great nieces, Andrew Littman, Allen
and Davida Bender, Louise Jacobus
and great-great nieces, Melissa and
Michelle Jacobus. Ms. Helpert was the
loving sister of the late Alfred Helpert.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be
