Executive Chef John Schmidt will put
out the homemade pasta, fresh fish
and seasonal vegetarian dishes ... Paul's
son, David Kohn, will be manager.
La Difference will start out
evenings only ... but is expected to
also open soon after for lunch and
carry-out.
ANOTHER DELI Unique is slated
to open early next year next to Duet
in Orchestra Hall ... It'll be an upscale
New York-style cafeteria operation ...
Also two more Unique Restaurant
Corporation restaurants are set for the
middle of 1999 ... "Ahi" fishhouse and
a steakhouse in Detroit.
PEOPLE DON'T miss the chance
to get away from cold weather, if they
can, and bask in some Florida sun-
shine, but many know it's with a sacri-
fice ... Why don't Suzy and Sonny
Modiano come down there and open
another Yoz Yogurt spot, they ask.
The Temple Kol Ami members,
whose three children, two boys and a
girl, were all bar and bat mitzvah
within a span of 10 months, will final-
ly open a second place.
Crosswinds Mall on Orchard Lake
Road and Lone Pine, is a long way
from Florida or Arizona, but in three
months, the site will join Suzy and .
Sonny's other spot at Simsbury Plaza,
14 Mile Road and Farmington Road
... among the besr places to ger those
yummy far-free yogurt cones and
plenty to take home.
THERE IS NOW kosher catering
at Birmingham House ... with Allan
Linker of Sperber's Kosher Catering
cji
chosen for the kashrut chores at the
250-capacity banquet spot.
THOSE STILL looking for their
first hole-in-one must wonder what
Dr. John Krawitz has for breakfast
these days ... He recently had his third
ace on Red Run Golf Course's 180-
yard 17th hole, putting it in the cup
with a four-iron while playing along- ,
side partner Dr. Bob Cosgrove and
former football great Ron Kramer.
TARGET DATE for opening of La
Shish in West Bloomfield, ar the for-
mer location of Ernest Larco, is by the
end of November ... The Middle East-
ern restaurant will be a seven-day
operation for both lunch and dinner.
LA FENDI on 11 Mile, at 1-696
and Evergreen, becomes the first to get
a liquor license in Lathrup Village ...
Its Class C ticket includes beer, wine
and spirits ... Second location by La
Fendi, in West Bloomfield, will be
around December ... a seven-day Mid-
dle Eastern restaurant also with a
liquor license. D
