More oldies from the menu at
Lindy's restaurant in New York ...
Customer: "How come the rice pud-
ding with raisins is - $1 and the rice
pudding without is $1.25?" Lindy's
waiter: "It costs us 25 cents in labor to
take out the raisins." ... "I'm sorry,"
said Louie the Gyp, "but I haven't any
• money to pay for the meal." "That's
all right," said Lindy's cashier. "We'll
write your name on the wall and you
can pay the next time you come."
"Don't do that. Everyone who comes
in will see it." "Oh no, they won't.
Your overcoat will be hanging over it."
Lindy's waiter: "Tea or coffee?"
Customer: "Coffee without cream."
Lindy's waiter: "You'll have to take it
without milk, we have no cream."
Customer: "Waiter, these are very
small oysters." Lindy's waiter: "Yes
sir." Customer; "And they don't
appear to be very fresh." Lindy's wait-
er: "Then lucky for you they're small."
... A man standing at Lindy's bar was
drinking by himself. Every few min-

from Radio City Music Hall.
Joe E. Lewis (sitting at Lindy's bar):
"One drink always makes me dizzy."
Jack Benny: "Really?" Joe E. Lewis:
"Yes, the 12th" ... Milton Berle:
--"Waiter, what's this?" Lindy's waiter;
"It's bean soup, sir." Milton Berle: "I
don't care what it's been. What is it
now?" ... A man at Lindy's asked the
waiter to bring him a turkey sand-
wich. "I regret that we are out of
turkey," said the waiter. The man then
asked him to bring a chicken sand-
