Jack Knispel of Flushing, N.Y. Lilly
Gorsky of Studio City, Calif., is his
proud great-grandmother. He is also
the grandson of the late Martin and
Beverly Gorsky of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Michael is a seventh-grade honor
student at Abbott Middle School in
West Bloomfield, where he plays the
viola in the orchestra. He enjoys
computer games and playing golf.
On weekends, Mike works as a soc-
cer referee.
Ryan Michael Jahnke will become a
bar mitzvah on Friday, Oct. 9, at
Temple Israel. He is the son of Betta
Jahnke and Keith
Jahnke, brother of
Adam and grand-
child of Margaret
and Kenneth Jahnke
and Pearl and Jerry
Singer.
Ryan particularly
enjoyed volunteer-
ing at Temple Israel
and for the Holocaust Memorial
Center in West Bloomfield, where he
made a financial contribution, as
part of his mitzvah projects. An
honor roll student at Orchard Lake
Middle School in West Bloomfield,
Ryan's hobbies revolve around sports:
basketball, golf and soccer.
Mackenzie Lee White will be called
to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Fri-
day, Oct. 9, at Temple Israel.
Mackenzie's fami-
ly includes her par-
ents, Libby and Art
White, and grand-
parents Henry and
Marjorie White.
An eighth-grade
student at Detroit
Country Day
School in Beverly
Hills, Mackenzie enjoys being on the
tennis and volleyball teams, and
loves music, theater, traveling and
studying French. She is also a strong
advocate of animal rights.
In memory of her late grandpar-
ents, Lee and Mel VanDuren,
Mackenzie is collecting and donating
clothing and furniture to the Salva-
tion Army, which was one of their
favorite charities.
A party will be held in Macken-
zie's honor at the Wabeek Country
Club in Bloomfield Hills.
Joshua Feinberg will celebrate his
bar mitzvah on Saturday, Oct. 10, at
Temple Israel. He is
the son of Shelli
and Gary Feinberg
and brother of
Samantha. Proud
grandparents are
Rita and Sid Barish
and Barbara and
Roy Feinberg.
Josh's most
meaningful mitzvah project was vol-
unteering at Yad Ezra. He is an
honor student at Warner Middle
School in Farmington Hills, where
he plays in the concert band. He
also enjoys basketball, baseball and
golf.
Amber Rachael Brandes will be
called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah
at Havdalah services on Saturday,
Oct. 10, at Temple
Israel. She is the
daughter of Lisa
and Dr. Warren
Brandes and sister
of Ari. Proud
grandparents are
Shelby Friedenthal,
Larry Ross and Rita
and Matthew
Rubin. She is also the grandchild of
the late Al Friedenthal.
Volunteering at Yad Ezra was
Amber's most meaningful mitzvah
project. A student at West Hills
Middle School in Bloomfield Hills,
her interests are dancing, acting, ski-
ing and boating.

her bat mitzvah on Saturday, Oct.
10, at Temple Israel. She is the

Excited great-grandmother is Ida

Alix found volunteering at the
Holocaust Memorial Center in West
Bloomfield especially meaningful
after doing a school project on the
life of Anne Frank. A student at
Orchard Lake Middle School in
West Bloomfield, she is interested in
fashion, basketball and water sports.
