er — plus getting [Sergei] Fedorov
back." His favorite memories of the
final victory at Washington include
"the charter flight with all the players
and their families" and "Mickey and I
had the Stanley Cup sitting between
us on the way home."
"I just made sure when I was up
there I took in every moment possible
because people say you get spoiled
when you come in here the first year
and you win a Stanley Cup. But you
don't take it for granted, either."
Can the Wings win a Stanley Cup
three-peat this season?
"Getting [defenseman] Uwe Krupp
was a huge addition — no pun
intended, the guy's 6-6 — but I can
see us winning it again."
The Toronto native enjoys living in
West Bloomfield. "It's pretty up here
and you don't get the big-city feeling,
which is nice." His only complaint?
"The one-lane roads everywhere and
the traffic congestion drives me crazy."
But after a year in town he and Lisa
have made plenty of friends. "I go on
the road and I have no problem
because she knows everybody," he
said. "For the [Jewish] holidays,
spending it with people here, we don't
even have to go home to Toronto;
we've been invited everywhere."
Broadcasting is a volatile business,
but Daniels hopes to remain with the
Wings for many years.
"I told them when I came that I
didn't want to come for just a year or
two if I was going to move my family.
I'm very happy and I'm hoping it can
be a long-term thing." El

Sydney, Australia (JTA) — Organizers
of the next Olympic Games are mak-
ing plans to accommodate observant
Jewish athletes.
The games are slated to take place
in Sydney in September 2000.
The Sydney Organizing Committee
has agreed to provide accommodations
in the Olympic Village for a rabbi
during Shabbat and the Jewish New
Year, said Sandy Hollway, chief execu-
tive officer of the committee.
Hollway, in a letter sent to the
Executive Council of Australian Jewry,
said services would be conducted at an
interfaith center in the Olympic Vil-
lage and kosher food would be avail-
able. The closing ceremonies of the
games are slated to take place on Rosh
Hashanah.

"For the very first time, Jewish
members of the Olympic family will (7,
be catered for within the Olympic Vil-
lage," said Amanda Gordon, vice pres-
ident of the New South Wales Jewish
Board of Deputies.
