families. He just left the wood out-

When my grandmother, of blessed
memory, passed away, her Porto
Rican neighbors came to console us.
They told us how she had helped
them even though she could not
speak their language. She fed their
children when they were hungry and
their children loved her. She loved
helping others. She had the KEY to
well being.

Bubbie's KEY
to well being.
My mother, may she rest in peace,
was a secretary in a yeshiva, in a poor
neighborhood in Brooklyn. She tried
very hard to arrange scholarships for
the very needy. Years later, when we
met those students they would hug
and kiss my mother. She loved helping
others. She had the KEY to well being.
I hope that my grandchildren will
tell their grandchildren that their
bubbie always went to visit strangers
in the nursing homes, bringing them
cookies and good cheer. Bubbie also
took strangers shopping and to doc-
tors' appointments. Bubbie loves
helping others. Bubbie has the KEY
to well being.
My daughter called from Chicago
to tell me that my granddaughter had
received the school's highest award for
chesed (helping others). My grand-
daughter loves helping others. She has
the KEY to well being. The KEYS
were handed down a long time ago. I
am grateful that we still use them. ❑
