It can be a dog-eat-dog world out there, but not when you're as handsome
and as smart as Michael Howard Berkowitz. Michael is `shown here with his
10th-birthday gift, "Hushie," the hush puppy. Michael's parents are Marty and
Brenda Berkowitz of Walled Lake. Of the birthday gift, Mom explains, "I'm
deathly allergic to real dogs and cats, so
Michael settles for the stuffed version
instead." Michael's hobbies are
hockey, soccer and roller -blad-
ing. He is in fifth-grade at
Walled Lake Elementary
School, where he is the
sports editor of the school
paper; managed the
school bank and served on
the student council.
Michael's proud grandpar-
ents are Ethel and Al
Feldstein, and Louis
Gelman.

Could this be the next Mark Spitz? Young swimming sensation
Sander Galan Eizen, certainly the best-looking boy on the beach, is
the son of Becky and Jerry Eizen of West Bloomfield; the grandson
of Nancie Eizen of Farmington Hills, and Yetta and Leo Sinai of
New Orleans; and the great-nephew of Adele Nodler of Oak Park,
who sent us this terrific picture and explains, "Sander is shown
enjoying a relaxing time up north after a hard day at the office."

Knock knock. Who's there? We hope
it's you, liana Rose Sherizen because
you're the most darling girl we've ever
seen!
liana Rose, 16 months, is the
daughter of Eugene and Julie Sherizen
of Huntington Woods, and the grand-
daughter of Betty and Paul Sherizen
of Southfield, who were nice enough
to send us this wonderful photo.

arch aria Richard is pretty in pink, and every
other color, too, we're sure! This lovely girl is the
daughter of Jay and Karen Richard of Oak Park;
the granddaughter of Barbara and Don Richard
of Birmingham, and David and Ruth Goldstein
of Oak Park; and the great-granddaughter of
Betty Creger of Oak Park, who says, "we are
proud of Sarah's talents in sports and dancing.
Her feisty and spunky personality make her

adorable."

What a great pair! Allison Kramer, 5, and brother
Tyler, 3, have the best smiles in the world! Both live
in West Bloomfield, where Allison attends kinder-
garten at Keith Elementary School and Tyler goes to
the Jewish Community Center Child Development
Center. Papa Eddie and Nana Mickey Schiff, who
sent in this great photo, took care of the two when
Allison and Tyler's parents went to Seattle, then
returned with these fun T-shirts.

Sometimes
we see a
drawing that's
just so great
we can't wait

to include it in the AppleTree, and to show you the tal-
ented child who drew it. This work of art was created
by Ryan Cykiert, 8, of Farmington Hills. Ryan is the -
son of Jay and Heather Cykiert, and is in fourth-grade

at Hillel Day School.
