ESTHER GUSSIN, 72, of Farming-
ton Hills, died Sept. 26.
She is survived by her daughters
and son-in-law, Shari and Paul
Mazzetti of Berkley, Gayle Gold of
Matthews, N.C.; brother and sister-
a-law, Dr. Martin and Debbie Karp
of West Bloomfield; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Molly and Harold
Haas of West Bloomfield, Bette and
Avery Shapiro of Huntington
Woods; five grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren. She was the
beloved wife of the late David
Gussin; loving mother of the late
Ronna Gussin. Contributions may
made to a charity of one's choice.
Services and interment were held at
Hebrew Memorial Park. Arrange-
ments by Hebrew Memorial Chapel.

HANA GUYER, 87, of Southfield,
died Sept. 26.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Bernard and Nancy
Wraus of Boca Raton, Fla.; daughters
and sons-in-law, Aida and Philip
Cutler of Oak Park, Norma and Bill
Sobesky of Denver, Colo.; grandchil-
dren, Michelle and Ken Arnold,
Tracey and Brett Dean, Susan and
Robert Geauvreau, Lisa and Bill
Givens, Wendy Cutler, Jennifer and
Stephen Rebori, Matthew Sobesky,
avIara Sobesky; great-grandchildren,
Dorie Ann, Jessica, Jillian, Morgan,
Cameron. She was the beloved wife
of the late Max Guyer.
Services and interment at Work-
men's Circle Cemetery, Beth Yehu-
dah Section. Arrangements by
Hebrew Memorial Chapel.

AT THE VINEYARDS

JOSEF H. HOROWITZ, 82, of
Southfield and Delray Beach, Fla.,
died Sept. 20. In the 1950s, Mr.
Horowitz was a founder and the first
president of the Evergreen Jewish
Congregation in northwest Detroit.
He was a member of Congregation
B'nai Moshe in Oak Park and a
member of its board of directors.
Mr. Horowitz was a veteran of
World War II, having served in the
Corps of Engineers. After the war,
he owned an appliance repair busi-
ness; later, he worked as a master
electrician at Chrysler Corporation.
He left that occupation to pursue a
sales career in the electrical supply
business. In 1959, he founded Allen .
Electric Supply Co.
He is survived by his wife, Doris
B. Horowitz; children, Leonard and
Cheryl Horowitz of Cleveland
Heights, Ohio, Norman and Robert
Tomasik Horowitz of Southfield,
Jerry and Karen Horowitz of
Northville, Cindy and Phil Wolf of
West Bloomfield; brothers and sis-
ters-in-law, Max and Beatrice
Horowitz of Southfield, Larry and
Phyllis Horowitz of Oak Park; sister
and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Mur-
ray Liberman of Detroit; grandchil-
dren, Naomi, Katie, Jenny, Justin,
Jason, Jessica, Shoshana, Zissi. Mr.
Horowitz was the loving brother of
the late Louis and Helen Horowitz.

BESSIE HELEN JAFFE, 97, former
Detroiter of Bay City, died Sept. 24.
She attended Farragut School and
Eastern High School in Bay City.
She,and her husband Morris
cofounded Valley Oxygen Co. She
was a member of Temple Israel and
its sisterhood, Hadassah, American
Red Cross, American Contract
Bridge League and the Bay Medical
Center Auxiliary. She was a Bay
Medical Center and Veterans
Administration Hospital volunteer.
She is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Dr. Martin and
Ruth Jaffe of Bay City, Mark and
Judy Jaffe of Essexville; daughter-in-
law, Lillian Jaffe of Jupiter, Fla.;
