BBYO Develops
Young Leaders

he B'nai B'rith
Yout h
Organization
(BBYO) is an
independent Jewish youth
group that focuses on leader-
ship development and non-
formal Jewish education.
Last year, Michigan region
served 1,077 members in the
metropolitan Detroit area,
Windsor and Ann Arbor.
The BBYO/JCC Teen
Connection program (for 7th
and 8th graders) is planning
a membership kickoff party
8:30-11 p.m. Saturday, Sept.
19, at the Kahn JCC. This
will be a night of dancing,
games and contests.
Teen Connection will
sponsor at least one event
each month. It attracts youth
from all over the metropoli-
tan Detroit area and bridges
the gap between bar/bat
mitzvah and high school-
aged youth groups.
AZA and BBG (grades
9-12) programming begins
in September. The fall mem-
bership drive will culminate
'01
at the kickoff dance 8:30-
p.m.
Saturday,
Oct.
3,
11:30
at the Kahn JCC. BBYO will
be forming new AZA and
BBG chapters, especially
looking to attract teens in
outlying areas like Walled
