he line snaked through the riverfront park as a bevy of Jewish young -
adults waited their turn to board the Diamond Belle Riverboat. Time
again for the yearly Jewish Federation-Young Adult Division boat cruise,
and what a time it was.
Before the boat even set sail on Tuesday evening, Aug. 25, a group of women
from the 1998 United Jewish Appeal singles mission to Israel let out a collective
scream and jumped to the makeshift dance planks. For some, the evening was yet
another in a long line of frequent reunions for the singles mission participants. For
others, it was an opportunity to meet other young adults and get to know an ever-
changing facet of the Jewish community.
The boat cruised along calm waters toward Lake Erie, then, with YAD president
Eric Gould at the helm, it turned back toward familiar port, heading toward the
Ambassador Bridge and brightly lit RenCen skyline before docking._ ❑

Waiting patiently in line to
board the boat.

Dancing full throttle ahead,
this group was careful not to tip the boat
with their enthusiasm.
