Avraham Fried's latest hit, "Chazak,"
as well as "Hinay Ma Tov," the lead-
off cut which features Fried and Ben
David in a dynamite duet.
For the uninitiated, this CD would
be a good place to start with popular
Jewish music.

New Age

Hasidic New Wave: Jews and
Abstract Truth; Frank London/Greg
Wall; Knitting Factory Works.
This is not a meek or delicate set of
Chasidic melodies. Frank London,
long known for his jazz and New Age
sound, has borrowed the main riffs of
some very popular tunes and turned
them into a very unique listening
experience. Some of it
is so unique, it's hard
to take.
While his acoustic
rendition of "Elyahu
Hanavi" is delightful,
"The Bobover Wed-
ding March" gets too
nervy once he improvs
away from the tradi-
tional melody.
"McDonald's at
Dachau," a hard-to-lis-
ten-to track, is a piece
inspired by the juxta-
position of those two
landmarks in Germany.

Here in the States,

Chaim Moshe

also are some tradition-
al Israeli sounds with
his rendition of "Ima
