Invites Jewish Singles 50 and Over to

Earle and Kathy Kanners of Farmington
Hills. Rachel also is the granddaughter
of the late Helen Kanners.
Rachel is an honor student at Warn-
er Middle School in Farmington Hills.
She is active in dancing, skiing, in-line
skating and she spends her summers at
Camp Walden.
Mitzvah projects include volunteer-
ing for the last two years at Beth Abra-
ham Hillel Moses Day Camp, working
with the younger kids.

Jordan Kirsch will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
Sept. 5 at Congregation Beit Kodesh.
Jordan is the son of
Paula and Jeff Kirsch
and the brother of
Michelle and David.
Proud grandpar-
ents are Arlene and
Dan Kirsch and
Jerome Hockle. Jor-
dan is also the
beloved great-grand-
son of Freda Kagan.
Jordan is a student at Power Middle
School in Farmington Hills, where he
plays bass clarinet in Cadet Band. His
interests include basketball, chess, com-
puters, cross-country and karate. Jordan
is a purple belt in Choi Kwag Do
Karate.
As a mitzvah project, Jordan worked
as a volunteer at Yad Ezra.

Emily Rebecca Eisenberg, daughter of
Marsha and Harry Eisenberg and sister
of Jennifer Eisenberg, will be called to
the Torah when she
celebrates her bat
mitzvah at Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek
on Sept. 5. Proud
grandparents are
Beatrice and Boris
Katz and Belle and
Isidor Eisenberg.
Emily has attend-
ed Hillel Day School where she was an
honor student. She will attend Cran-
brook Kingswood in the fall.
Emily chose as her mitzvah project
volunteer work at JARC, where she
worked with residents of the Charach
home. Emily enjoys dancing and she
danced during the opening ceremonies
of the JCC Maccabi Games.

Melissa Ashley Talon will become a bat
mitzvah at Temple Shir Shalom on Sat-
urday, Sept. 5. Melissa is the daughter
of Neil and Pam Talon, sister to
Stephanie ad Jaclyn, granddaughter of
Morton and Tola Gilberg, Theodore
and Anne Talon.

She is an honor
student at Bloomfield
Hills Middle School
where her favorite
subject is English.
Her hobbies include
biking, canoeing,
drawing, piano, read-
ing, swimming and
white water rafting.
Her mitzvah projects included visit-
ing seniors at the Jewish Federation
Apartments, volunteering at Yad Ezra
and working as an aide at Temple Shir
Shalom's religious school.

Scott Andrew Hantler, son of Saree
and Steven Hantler, will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah at Adat Shalom
Synagogue Saturday,
Sept. 5. Scott is the
older brother of
Bradley. He is the
grandson of Ida
Goldenberg and Frie-
da Hantler, the late
Rubin Goldenberg
and the late David
Hantler.
Scott attends Adat Shalom's religious
school where he will continue his Jew-
ish education. In preparation for
becominga bar mitzvah, he completed
the synagogue's 13 Mitzvot Program,
which required participation in 13
learning-and-doing experiences. Scott
also volunteered within the synagogue
and community.
Scott is an honor student at Warner
Middle School in Farmington Hills.
where he plays trombone in the school
band. His interests include sports, com-
puters, video games and music.

Daniel Robert Demp was called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
Aug. 29 at Congregation Shir Tikvah in
Troy.
Daniel is the
proud son Barry and
Wendy Demp, broth-
er of Rachel Demp,
grandchild to Rose
and Marvin Demp,
Marilyn Averett, and
great-grandchild to
Berdie Shandroff.
Daniel has been working as a
teacher's assistant to 2nd and 3rd grade
students at his former elementary
school. He also worked in the media
center, helping children with book
selections and computer.
Daniel is an excellent student_ His
interests include golf, bowling, comput-
ers ad writing. He wrote his first book
at age 5 and is working on a novel. He
