HARVEY KATCHAN, 74, of
Detroit, died Aug. 20. Mr. Katchan
was a retired state of Michigan social
worker. He also served in the Pacific
with the U.S. Army during World
War II.
He is survived by his brother, Julius
Katchan of Detroit; sister, Celia Katz
of Southfield; beloved friend, Carol
Garza. He was the dear brother of the
late Harold Katchan. Interment at
Machpelah Cemetery.
Contributions may be directed to
the Detroit Zoological Society, 8450
West 10 Mile Road, Royal Oak, or the
Michigan Chapter of the Nature Con-
servatory. Arrangements by the Ira
Kaufman Chapel.

ZELMA KOSS, 85, of Silverspring,
Md., who lived in Oak Park from
1951-1994, died, Aug. 22. Mrs. Koss
was a finance company bookkeeper for
Associate Finance Company for 10
years and during the 1950s a retail
store manager at Ben Franklin's at 9
Mile and Coolidge.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, David and Marilyn
Koss of Washington, D.C.; grandson,
Brian Jeremy Koss; brother and sister-
in-law, Harry and Sophie Falkoff of
Buffalo Grove, I111; and other family
members of the late Sheldon Koss.
Mrs. Koss was the beloved wife of the
late Sheldon Koss.
Interment at Adat Shalom Memori-
al Park. Contributions may be made
to a charity of one's choice. Arrange-
ments by the Ira Kaufman Chapel.

DEENA KUCHERSKY, 76, of
Southfield, died Aug. 19.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Michael and Maya
Kuchersky of West Bloomfield; daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Galina and Arkady
Pavlov of West Bloomfield; sisters,
Sophia Vulman of Southfield, Galina
Patapkina of Oak Park; grandchildren,
Roman, Daniel, Regina, Jennifer.

MELBA LIEBER, 85, of Farmington
Hills, died Aug. 19.
She is survived by her husband of
63 years, Jack Lieber; daughters and
sons-in-law, JoAnne and Harry Ham-
burger of Boca Raton, Fla., Diane and
Stuart Mittenthal of Bloomfield Hills;
grandchildren, Stephen Hamburger,
Sandra Hamburger, Linda Hamburg-

LEO LUTCHANSKY, 75, former
Detroiter of Sacramento, Calif, died
Aug. 14.
He is survived by his wife, Millie;

Llewellyn Lutchansky of Juneau, Alas-
ka, Jack and Susan Lutchansky of
Sacramento; grandchildren, Nathan,
Adam, Cory, Cameron Lutchansky;
sisters and brother-in-liw, Marion and

Fla., Irene Eagle of Farmington Hills;
brother and sister-in-;law, Milton and

JERRY MALL, 76, of Pompano
Beach, Fla., died Aug. 19. Mr:- Mall
was self employed and the owner of
Ambassador Paint and Supply.. He was
a member of B'nai B'rith and the Jew-
ish War Veterans.
He is survived by his son, Mickey
Mall of Chestefield; daughter and son-
in-law, Gail and Howard Victor of
West Bloomfield; grandchildren,
Heather, Lindsey, Stacey and Ryan
Victor. He was the beloved husband of
the late Phyllis Mall. Interment at
B'nai Israel Memorial Gardens. Con-

HERBERT LEE MANDEL, 68, of
Detroit, died Aug. 24. Mr. Mandel
was an engineering draftsman and a
graduate of the University of Michi-
gan. He was also an accomplished vio-
linist and attended a Jewish theologi-
cal seminary.
He is survived by his brother and
sister-in-law, Earl and Joanne Mandel
of Southfield. He was the beloved son
of the late William and the late Ida
Mandel.
