Rabbi Michael Moskowitz of Tem-
ple Shir Shalom believes that angels
are around us, not as supernatural
beings but in the manifestation of
positive actions. He finds that a corn-

Rabbi Moskowitz thinks Jews can
gain from viewing the DIA exhibit
and learning about other religious
approaches to angels.
"Anything that makes us think
about what we believe is positive,"
Rabbi Moskowitz said. "It helps us

Angels From the Vatican" runs
Aug. 23-Oct. 18 at the Detroit
Institute of Arts. There will be
new Friday night hours with a
variety of activities until 10 p.m.

on linen-backed paper, Vatican Museums. According to the exhibit cata-
logue, this image represents the most intimate and familiar aspect of the
Christian tradition, the invisible guardian, and approximates most
closely the common image of the archangel Raphael, the healer. "This
tradition," says the catalogue, "harks back to and is complemented by
the more ancient Hebrew tradition according to which there is no crea-
ture here on earth that does not have its protector in heaven."
