A WONDERFUL togetherness
after two years of silent relationship is
what happiness is all about for Oak
Parker Evelyn Pelavin (Jay) and her
daughter, Dr. Sandra Gomez ... The
graduate of Mumford High in its first .
summer cap and gown class, 1953,
and daughter also of Gary Weisenthal,
was class valedictorian then as Sandra
Weisenthal.
Today a retired anesthesiologist,
she is a key figure in aiding children
with hearing disabilities in San Lucas,
Mexico, where she lives part-time,
along with Tempe, Ariz.
The birthday card Evelyn sent her
daughter, and Sandra's thank you
reply, are both treasured.
SHE'S WRITING a book while
managing a restaurant, but Cheryl
Posluzny isn't that far away from a
reality of her own life ... The pleas-
ant and cordial gal at Copper
Canyon Brewery, off 11 Mile in
Southfield, is penning a murder
mystery about a lady captain on a
private yacht ... And Cheryl is going
for the same kind of captain's license
herself.
Also a favorite is one of our town's
happiest waitpersons, Minnie Dunn,
who so many people wanted to have
serve them while she was at the one-
time Pearl City restaurant that preced-
ed Copper Canyon.
COCO'S KORNER ... "If I had
a second choice, I'd pick France to
live. They let dogs eat in restaurants
inside and outside. Second place
would be California. It sure likes us
mutts. Couple of my barker bud-
dies came back and said there were
signs that welcomed us at outdoor
cafes. And one of them went to a
place where they put fresh water
and treats outside for us to chew
on.
"The other one, a poodle just like
me, says a restaurant is opening that'll
have a dog menu for people sitting
outside.
"About being in France, I may be a
French poodle, but the language bar-
rier would be ruff. How do you bark
in French?"
