Vandals Target
Jewish Site

Moscow OTA) — Vandals target-
ed the central. Jewish cemetery in
Moscow, Moscow's chief rabbi,
Pinchas Goldschmidt, reported to
the National Conference on
Soviet Jewry.
The vandals overturned 30
headstones. The incident is the
latest in a series of recent attacks
against Jewish institutions in
Moscow.

AMIA Blast
Is Remembered

New York UTA) --- The Jewish
Community Relations Council of
New York sponsored a memorial
service to mark the fourth
anniversary of the July 1994
bombing of .AMIA, the Jewish
community center in Buenos
Aires.
Vice President Al Gore sent
greetings to those attending the
service, at which candles were lit
for the 86 people killed. The ser-
vice also honored the 22 people
killed in the March 1992 bomb-
ing of the Israeli Embassy in
Buenos Aires.

Curator Appointed
To Berlin Museum

New York (JTA) — A Jewish
museum curator who fled Nazi
Germany in 1938 was named
deputy director and chief operat-
ing officer of a Jewish museum
slated to open in two years in
Berlin.
Torn Freudenheim, who is slat-
ed to assume the post in
September, is currently executive
director of the YIVO Institute for
Jewish Research in New York.
