major-general in the United States
Army and highly decorated during his

Knowing Ira Kaufman's great grandson Chad and great granddaughter Stephanie were
monitoring the chapel's Web site and answering e-mail inquires, we don't have to imagine
the smile on Ira's face, we just look
at Grandpa H-erbie.

He was the sole
survivor of his
family who per-

caust. He was a
member of Shaarit
Haplaytah and
instrumental in
the purchasing of ambulances for Israel.
He is survived by his wife, Char-
lotte Simko; daughters and sons-in-
law, Susie and Ruben Acrich of West
Bloomfield, Ruthie and Steven Moss
of Farmington Hills, Rochelle and
Gary Greenberg of Farmington Hills;
son and daughter-in-law, Sam and
Randi Simko of Farmington Hills;

SAM STOLLER, 87, of Detroit, died
July 19. Mr. Stoller was an investor
and owner of real estate and commer-
cial property in the Detroit area for
over 60 years. During World War II,
he was the owner of a women's retail
shop called Mary's. He also owned a
restaurant/nightclub called Sam's. At
age 76, he opened a men's clothing
store on Broadway called Mr. Sam's. '5.— \/
He is survived by his daughter and
son-in-law, Ilene and John Monkman
of Huntington Woods; brother and sis-
ter-in-law, Jack and Linda Schechter of
Bloomfield Hills; sister, Ann Gorowitz
of Los Angeles; grandchildren, Daniel
Monkman, Marisa Monkman, Leiana

ROSE WINER, 86, of Southfield,
died July 18. Mrs. Winer was a finan-__
cial bookkeeper.
She is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Jeremy and Lotte
Winer of West Bloomfield, Daniel and
Judy Winer of Farmington Hills; grand-
children, Jordan, Joshua, Matthew,
Corey and Nicole; sisters, Freida Fine of
Calif, Sally Kaplan of Florida. Mrs.
Winer was the beloved wife of the late
William B. Winer. Interment at Adat
