about Esquire Grill and Deli on Dex-
ter and Leslie, he asks, which was
owned and operated by his father,
Nate Fridson, and Max Mittler, grand-
father of S t yle magazine Editor Carla
Schwartz ... According to Sheldon,
Esquire sold more corned beef in the
'50s than any other deli.
SEVENTH ANNIVERSARY of
Diamond Jim Brady's Bistro on Town
Center Drive in Novi includes a dra-
matic facelift of the restaurant interior
with recent acquisitions of art that
owners Mary and Tom Brady bought
at auctions and antique fairs in France
and the United States.
It always has been a finely-appoint-
ed restaurant, with antiques and arti-
facts from the original Diamond Jim's,
owned by Tom's father 44 years ago on
W. Seven Mile Road.

only three female certified executive
chefs in Michigan, and her sous chef,

in New York ... Rick is executive chef
at his fine dining spot, and was one of
20 finalists for best chef in the Mid-
west region chosen by the foundation.

Nancy Levine Liefer, (248) 661-5028.
THE GRILL at Ritz-Carlton,
Dearborn, now has a Fisherman's
Wharf seafood buffet every Friday
night during June and July ... Sushi,
oysters, crab, marinated seafood, etc.
... Reservations are required ... $49 per
person.
OUTDOOR PATIO at Rocky's of
Brighton, with its barbecue and full-
service bar, also has dancing under the
stars ... Next up is Regular Boys, Tues-
day, June 23.
EVIDENCE of how bad much of
the server situation is for restaurants
was evident recently during an
uncrowded, early dinnertime at a
northwest eating spot.
One of the biggest no-nos in the
restaurant game is a server arguing
with a customer ... In this case, it was
