The American Musical and Dramatic
Academy in New York City has
accepted Randi Lyn Kaye into the
professional training program for
1998.
Rabbi E.B. Freedman, director of
the Jewish Hospice Service for Hos-
pice of Michigan, recently presented
a paper titled "Hospice: The Jewish
Response To Physician-Assisted Sui-
cide," at the third annual conference
on Orthodox Judaism and Mental
Health at the Homowack Resort
Hotel in Spring Glen, N.Y. The con-
ference was sponsored by NEFESH,
the International Network of Ortho-
dox Mental Health professionals and
the Albert Einstein College of Medi-
cine.
The Wayne State University Gradu-
ate School's Outstanding Mentor
Awards recently honored Shlomo
Sawilowsky of Oak Park for his
exceptional record as an academician
and researcher. Professor Sawilowsky
received his award in the area of
humanities and the arts.

Bryan Bornstein of Farmington
Hills is among 40 of the state's top
high school student leaders to receive
the Inaugural Leader Advancement
Scholarship to attend Central Michi-
gan University this fall. Burnstein,
the son of Stuart and Maxine Burn-
stein, is a student at Southfield-Lath-
rup High School.
The State Board of Education
recently approved the appointment
of Eleanor Goodfriend Blum to the

mittee for a two year term.

JEWEL, Aish HaTorah Women's Edu-
cation League, will host Rebetzin
Tzipporah Heller, author and lecturer,
at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, at a pri-
vate home.
Rebetzin Heller is a senior lecturer
at Neve Yerushalayim Seminary in
Jerusalem and regularly lectures at
other Israeli colleges and universities
around the world.
The presentation is only for
women. Refreshments will be served;
Heller's books and tapes will be avail-
able for purchase. Reservations are
required. Cost of the evening is $18;
$7 for students and seniors.
