Judge Addresses
B'nai B'rith

Learning Program
For Women

The B'nai B'rith Lawyers' Lecture
Series will take place noon Wednes-
day, May 27, at the DoubleTree
Guest Suites on
Franklin Road,
Southfield.
The speaker
will be Judge
KathleenJansen
of the Michigan
Court of Appeals.
A graduate of the
University of
Kathleen Jansen
Detroit Law
School, Justice
Jansen was elected Macomb County
Probate Judge in 1982. In addition,
she was elected
to the Macomb County Circuit
Court in 1984 followed by an
appointment as justice to the Michi-
gan Court of Appeals in 1989 where
she will continue to serve until Janu-
ary 1, 2001.
The cost to attend the program is
$13, including lunch. For informa-

JEWEL, Jewish Women's Educational
League, will launch a new learning
program for women. Jewel is an inter-
national women's learning network
sponsored by Aish HaTorah. This
unique program is designed to enable
Jewish women to explore personal
spirituality based on the text of the
Mishnah/Talmud. This upcoming
class 8-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 27,
will be hosted in a private home in
Bloomfield Hills.
The classes are free of charge and
refreshments will be served. Jewel wel-
comes all Jewish ladies regardless of
affiliation or religious persuasion.

Sisterhood
Plans Installation

The Congregation Beit Kodesh Sis-
terhood will hold its installation of
officers 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at
the synagogue. David Gross, presi-
dent of the synagogue, will conduct
the ceremony.
Elected for a two-year term are:
president, Anita Cottrell; vice presi-
dent, Rae Offerman; treasurer,
Dorothy Diskin; Secretary, Dorothy
Block.
Entertainment will be provided by
the Kirsch Singing Trio. Refresh-
ments will be served.

EMU Hillel
Plans Program

EMU Hillel will hold a student pro-
gram planning session (with lunch)
1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Con-
gregation Adat Shalom. Following
the session, students will join the
Israel Walk.

CHaZaKaH
Spring Lunch

The May meeting of ChaZaKaH, the
Adat Shalom Synagogue seniors
group, will feature a program by
Rabbi Efry Spectre 12:30 p.m. Thurs-
day, May 28, at the synagogue.
Following lunch, Rabbi Spectre will
speak on "The Modern Return to
Zion," a discussion and slide-presenta-
tion based on the congregational trip
which he led to Israel this spring, in
celebration of Israel's 50th anniversary.
The ChaZaKaH luncheon is open
to all community seniors. There is a
$5 charge for members and a $6 non-

PR Workshop
Set For Wednesday

The Jewish Community Council,
Events Marketing and The Jewish
News will host a marketing workshop
for non-profit organizations on
Wednesday, May 27.
The event will be held 8:30-11:30
a.m. at the Max M. Fisher Building in
Bloomfield Hills.
"Marketing Your Non-Profit Orga-
nization" will feature experts in
fundraising, event planning, public
relations, direct mail and media pro-
fessionals.
