At Butzel
The Fresh Air Society will sponsor two
week-long Elderhostel programs begin-
ning July 5 and July 19, at Butzel Con-
ference Center, near Ortonville.
Rabbi Marla Feldman (Jewish Com-
munity Council of Metropolitan
Detroit) will lecture on "Dual
Covenants: Judaism and the American
Legal System" and "Law, Ethics and
Religion: Bio-Medical Ethics in the
Brave New World;" Dr. Brian Schmidt
(University of Michigan) will discuss
"Recently Archaeological Discoveries in
the Holy Land That Are Simply Star-
ding;" Ernoch Brater will present
"Samuel Beckett and the Post Holocaust
Imagination;" and Corinne Stavish will
teach "Interpreting the Bible: Finding
Meaning Between the Letters and the
Words and. Behind the Letters."
Evening entertainment will include
Cantor Dubov with "Second Avenue to
Broadway," Robert Milne, "History of
Ragtime American Music" and Gemini.

nization which sponsors residential aca-
demic programs around the world,

Needs Helpers
Helping prepare food for the Food
Bank of Oakland County will be the
next event sponsored by the Jewish Fed-
eration's Volunteer Network 9:15 a.m.-
1 p.m. Wednesday, June 3.
Interested women and men will meet
at the Max M. Fisher Federation Build-
ing and proceed by carpool to the Can-
nery in Farmington Hills, where they
will pack soup, fruit and vegetables for
use at the food bank. Reservation dead-
line is Friday, May 29.
The event is sponsored by the Volun-
teer Network in cooperation with Fed-
eration's Women's Campaign and Edu-
cation Department. For information or
