In the summer 1991, Udi Kapen, now Dr. Ehud Kapen, a third-year resi-
dent in pediatrics at Children's Hospital, participated in a volunteer pro-
gram for medical students, says his mother, Rachel Kapen of West Bloom-
field. During the trip he visited Yam Kinneret (the Sea of Galilee) and

Masada.

Lesley Serri, whose Israeli father originally hails from Yemen, recently visited
Israel with mom Joyce, of West Bloomfield. "I took Lesley back to Israel to
visit her roots," says Ms. Serri, who first went to Israel as a volunteer during

the 1973 war.
