from a trip in 1994. One was a visit
to a Lubavitcher village, Kfar Chabad,
where they were able to observe a
group making matzah for Pesach. The
flour man stood in a separate room
measuring out the flour and passing it
through a window, where it was
mixed with water and quickly knead-
ed, rolled and baked.
After each process, everything used
that touched the flour was washed
and, in the case of the wooden poles,
sanded, and the process began again.
In Eilat, the family went on a Jeep
tour of the desert. The Lost Valley,
which only became accessible in the
1970s, had some awesome rock for-
mations. The kids loved the rock
climbing. They also saw Ibex (moun-
tain goats).

Freda, Mike and Dan Arlow offer
thanks to Abrams Travel for a great
Israel adventure of 13 days. The trip
included virtually all the well-known
highlights and the less well known
but entirely captivating ones that
enthralled them and created treasured
memories.
The trip started in Jerusalem with
their son's bar mitzvah at the Western
Wall. In Jerusalem, they stayed at Lev
Yerushaliyim, a charming, inexpensive
but comfortable hotel (including a
kitchen) in the heart (lev) of
Jerusalem.
From Jerusalem, their driver and
tour guide took them to Mt. Har-
mon, stopping on the way for inter-
esting side trips. They ultimately trav-
eled as far south as Jabel Musah (Mt.
Sinai) in Egyptian-held territory and
finally completed the trip in Tel Aviv.
Here is a list of some of the sites they
suggest travelers include in their itin-
eraries: In Jerusalem: Hotel Lev
Yerushaliyim, Tower of David Muse-
urn in Old City, excavations at the
base of the Wall, Oskar Schindler's
grave in Old City, promenade on
Ben-Yehudah Street, Melech
HaFalafel for the best falafel in
Jerusalem.
In Tiberias: Best kosher Chinese
restaurant is Pagoda. In Golan
Heights: wine tasting at the Golan
Heights Winery. In Banyas: the rush-
ing waters of the Jordan River.
In Zippori: newer excavations and
mosaics on the ancient town with
underground canals. The Soreq Caves
are fascinating grottos with excellent
stalactites and stalagmites. Kibbutz
Ein Harodf Meyuhad has rows of
palm trees pointing to the mountain
where David killed Goliath and the
