enthusiast, who practices every day.
Bernstein's parents encouraged his
interests as well as the interests of his
one sister and two brothers. His
mother, a director in community and
Jewish theater in Atlanta, and his
father, a clinical psychologist, were
divorced when he was 10 but raised
their youngsters to be confident in the
public eye.
His sister, Didi Conn, starred in
the movie Grease as Frenchy and
recently wrote a book about that expe-
rience, Frenchy Grease Scrapbook. The
wife of Oscar-winning composer
David Shire, she was on the TV show
"Benson" for about seven years, and
now, she's on TV every day on the
show "Shining Time Station."

"My parents
never said,
`Now you do
this' or
`Go do this."'

Brother Andrew Bernstein is the
senior official photographer for the
National Basketball Association and
the Olympic team. Bradley Bernstein,
after working as a psychologist, is a
full-time classical composer and musi-
cian.
"My parents never said, 'Now you
do this' or 'Go do this,'" Bernstein
said. "I believe in being grateful for all
the opportunities I get and what I
have. I'm getting lots of offers, and
I'm booked into 2001 right now."
A tentative booking is for a produc-
tion in Israel, where Bernstein visited
as a tourist at age 19.

"Last year's visit to Detroit was my
first visit to the city," Bernstein said.

"Since I was singing the title role, I
was very busy, but I met David Ran-
dleman and Alden Leib at the cast
parry and [was invited] to play golf
with them. That has never happened
to me in all my career, and I'm look-
ing forward to seeing them again." ❑
