Simcha, a metro-Detroit Organiza-
tion for Jewish Gays and Lesbians,
will host a Passover Nosh Gathering
7-10 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at
the home of a member in the Farm-
ington Hills area.
Members and prospective mem-
bers are welcome to attend. Partici-
pants are asked to bring a kosher-for-

Machon L'Torah will lead a tour to
Israel during summer break. Rabbi
and Mrs. Jacobovitz will lead tours
throughout the country. There will
be lectures and discussions by local
scholars and Jewish study in the areas
of philosophy, language, history, laws
and customs and general Jewish
information. The group will be based
at the Heritage House Hostel in the
Old City of Jerusalem.
The tour will depart Detroit on
Sunday, August 16, and will return
Sunday, August 30. Call or fax

Resource Line
Needs Volunteers
Retired social service professionals
and people interested in helping oth-
ers are being sought by the Federa-
tion Resource Line, a Jewish infor-
mation and referral service sponsored
by the Jewish Federation of Metro-
politan Detroit.
The Federation Resource line pro-
vides referrals to helping agencies
and is a resource for information
about the Jewish community and
other topics.
Persons who wish to volunteer
will be given hands-on training by
Resource Line Director Carol
Kaczander. Training will be given
one-on-one initially and in groups
on a yearly basis.
Responsibilities include answering
telephones, recording data and mak-
ing appropriate referrals in a non-
judgmental fashion. Prospective
candidates must have a pleasant
phone manner, patience and com-
passion. Familiarity with the Jewish
and general communities and their
services is helpful. Volunteers are
required to respect the confidentiali-
ty of callers.
