What Makes
A Hero?
Families of Congregation Shir Tikvah
and Congregation B'nai Moshe will
join together to learn about Jewish
heroes, past and present at "Ancient
Roots and Modern Branches," co-
sponsored by the Agency for Jewish
Education's Jewish Experiences for
Families 10 a.m.-noon Sunday, April
5, at the Agency for Jewish Education
in Southfield.
Through storytelling, puppet mak-
ing, music and more, participants will
learn what makes people Jewish
heroes. The program is free of charge.

Feature Talks
Machon L'Torah, the Jewish Network
of Michigan, will hold a deli dinner 5
p.m. Sunday, March 29, in Ann
Arbor. Rabbi Avraham Jacobovitz will
lead a discussion on "Interdating,
Intermarriage, and Racism: Could
Judy S. Shapiro and Fitzgerald J.
McDonald Live Happily Ever After?"
There is no charge. The event will
take place at the Jewish Resource Cen-
ter at the University of Michigan,

deli dinner co-sponsored by the
Michigan State University Hillel 6:30
p.m. Tuesday, March 31. Rabbi
Jacobovitz will lead a discussion on
"The Seven Wonders of Judaism."

Machon will hold an informative
Shabbat experience 6:45 p.m. Friday,
April 3, at the Jewish Resource Center
in Ann Arbor. The program will fea-
ture Rabbi Jacobovitz on "The Seven
Wonders of Judaism." Discussion at
8:45 p.m.; Oneg Shabbat at 9:30 p.m.
The guest speaker on Shabbat after-
noon will be Steven Ettinger of
Guardian Industries. There is no
charge, but reservations are required.

Family Concert
With Klezmers
The Eugene & Marcia Applebaum
Jewish Parenting Center of Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek will present a fam-
ily concert by Young People's Klezmer
Workshop 3 p.m. Sunday, April 5, at
B'nai Israel Center, 4200 Walnut Lake
Road in West Bloomfield.
The group, from New York, also will
feature local musical artist Abraham Ben
Ze'ev. Refreshments will be served fol-
lowing the concert. Tickets are $3 per
person and will be available at the door.

Women's Seder
At Beth Shalom
Congregation Beth Shalom will com-
memorate Passover with a Women's
Seder 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at
the synagogue.
It is open to all women and school
age-girls in the area, regardless of reli-
gious or congregational affiliation. A
Haggadah was created especially for
this seder.
Prices are $18 for adults; $10 for
children 13 and under. Sponsorships
are welcomed to help offset the cost of
holding the event. Angels ($36) and
sponsors ($180) are recognized in the
seder program.

JPM Events
Scheduled
A Center Bingo Game will be played
12:30 p.m. Monday, March 30, at
JPM for Passover. There is a charge.
The Yiddish Culture Club will
meet 1 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at the
Jewish Community Center of Oak
Park, facilitated by Chaim Rozenthal.
Socials are every Wednesday at 1
p.m. Music is provided by local enter-
tainers.
Woodcarving meets Monday
through Friday at 9 a.m. New mgm-
bers are welcome. Supplies are includ-
ed in the beginning. There is no
charge.
