Encore and Chafes
Concert Series

presents:

foods such as packaged dried fruit,
kosher packaged nuts, cookies and
crackers and kosher wrapped candy.
(Kosher products should be identi-
fied with the U symbol.) These
parcels can be dropped off between
noon and 2 p.m. to either the
Agency for Jewish Education, 21550
W. 12 Mile Road, Southfield, or the
D. Dan and Betty Kahn Jewish
Community Center, West
Bloomfield.
Those who choose can come to
the Agency for Jewish Education
between noon and 2 p.m. to assem-
ble parcels with others. Activities for
younger children will be offered and
refreshments for all will be provided.
Contributions of food items for the
parcels are made by many merchants
and individuals in the metropolitan
Detroit area.
A third option is to deliver parcels
to others in the community, includ-
ing Shalom Detroit newcomers,
Jewish New Americans, Jewish Home
and Aging Services residents, Group
Apartments for the Elderly residents
of Jewish Family Service, Kosher
Meals on Wheels recipients and oth-
ers. Parcels will be delivered from the
Agency for Jewish Education between
2 and 4 p.m. Maps and directions
will be provided.
The Great Purim Parcel Project is
sponsored by Jewish Experiences for
Families, a division of the Agency for
Jewish Education, and The Jewish
News.

Barristers
Host Lecture

The B'nai B'rith Center for Public
Policy and B'nai B'rith Barristers will
conduct a lunch and lecture noon
Wednesday, Feb. 25, at DoubleTree
Guest Suites, Southfield.
The speaker will be Marilyn Kelly,
Justice of the Michigan Supreme
Court, who will speak on "Judging at
the Supreme Court Level." The special
guest will be Richard D. Heideman,
former senior vice president of B'nai
B'rith International, who is the
national chairman of the B'nai B'rith
Center for Public Policy.

JCCouncil
At Plenum

The Jewish Community Council will
participate in the Jewish Council for
Public Affairs plenum, which will take
place Feb. 21-25 in Fort Lauderdale,
Fla. "Emerging Voices in America: New
Alliances, New Challenges" will be the
topic of a forum presented by Council
executive director David Gad-Harf.
Council president Howard Wallach will
focus on the relationship between
Detroit's Jewish and Arab communities
at a workshop titled "America's Other
Ethnic Groups." In addition, Council
assistant director Allan Gale will partic-
ipate on a panel of government rela-
tions professionals.
The Michigan delegation will also
include Council vice president
Kathleen Straus; Council board mem-
bers, Johanna Gordon, Steven G.
Silverman and Daniel Cherrin; Rabbi
Efry Spectre; Council assistant director
Rabbi Marla J. Feldman; New Leaders
Project participant Lee Trepeck;
Michigan Jewish Conference director
Cindy Hughey; and Council Project
STaR intern Renanit Levy. Council will
also sponsor three area college students
in the Hillel Spitzer Forum on Public
Policy, conducted concurrently with
the plenum.

Managed Care
Talk For Seniors

The Temple Israel Treasures will present
a program on "Managed Care and the
Crisis in Health Care for Seniors," 1
p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the tem-
ple, featuring Monroe Title and Alan
Nathan. This program is open to the
