Is Discussed

Sarah Tugman Bais Chabad Torah
Center will present a lecture by Dr.
Edwin Yisroel Susskind, on "Resolving
Anger within the Family: Guidelines
from Jewish Tradition and
Psychology" 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb.
25, at the Torah Center, 5595 W
Maple Road, West Bloomfield.
Dr. Susskind, a psychotherapist spe-
cializing in marital and family therapy,
is a past president of the Maryland
Psychological Association, has
authored a book and many scientific
publications and articles, and speaks
world wide to professional and Jewish
audiences.
. There is a $5 charge for the lecture.
A buffet dinner will be served from
5:30-8 p.m. prior to the lecture. The
cost is $12.50 for adults and $6.50 for
children.

The Holocaust Memorial Center and
the Department of German and Slavic
Studies of Wayne State University will
sponsor a lecture by Dr. Barbara Bauer
7:30 p.m. Monday, March 2, at the
Kahn Jewish Community Center in
West Bloomfield. Dr. Bauer will speak
on "Teaching the Holocaust to
German Students."
A professor of German literature at
Philipps University in Marburg,
Germany, since 1992, Dr. Bauer also
taught for many years at Ludwig
Maximilians University in Munich.
She recently organized a conference on
Holocaust experiences from a child's
point of view and their representations
in art and literature.
The public is invited and reserva-
tions are not necessary. There is no
charge for the event. The lecture facili-
ty is barrier free.

Newcomers
Celebrate Purim

A family Purim party for newcomers
to Detroit is planned for 9:30 a.m.
Sunday, March 15, at the Kahn Jewish
Community Center.
The party will be hosted by Shalom
Detroit, a program of the Jewish
Federation Women's Campaign and

Education Department to welcome
newcomers to the community.
Light snacks will be served. For

Shabbat Spirit
Is Discussed

Jewish Federation Women's Campaign
and Education Department will have
the third program in its Rekindling
Shabbat lunch and learn series noon
Thursday, March 26, at the Max M.
Fisher Federation Building.
Rebbitzins Yael Weil of Young Israel
of Oak Park and Wendy Yedwab of
Temple Israel will speak on "Shabbat:
The Spirit and the Letter of the Law."
Admission fee is $10 per person.
Kosher luncheon will be served.
Reservation deadline is March 20.

Home Buyer

Workshop Set

The Neighborhood Project will host a
home buyer workshop 6:45-9 p.m.
Wednesday, March 18, at the Jimmy
Prentis Morris Jewish Community
Center.
Designed to provide an overview of
the entire home-buying process, the
free workshop will focus on how to:
qualify for a home mortgage, under-
stand a credit report, complete a pur-
chase agreement, choose a lender and
real estate agency, and apply for a
mortgage.
Co-sponsors are Group One
Mortgage and Century 21 Today. The
public is invited.

Purim Mitzvah
Program Planned

The community is invited to perform
a Purim mitzvah by preparing and/or
delivering shalach manor (food
parcels) to others in the community
during the Annual Great Purim
Parcel Project noon-4 p.m. Sunday,
March 1.
Participants can assemble parcels
at home or in their classrooms by
decorating several plates or baskets
