IRWIN SCHWARTZ, 87, of
Southfield, died Jan. 12. Prior to his
retirement in 1977, Mr. Schwartz was
co-owner of Markay's Children Shop
in Madison Heights. He was a mem-
ber of Congregation B'nai Moshe,
charter member of the Downtown
Lodge of B'nai B'rith and for many
years was a volunteer at Providence
Hospital.
Mr. Schwartz is survived by his
wife, Emma Schwartz; son and
daughter-in-law, Dr. Martin and
Barbara Schwartz of New Hampshire;
daughter, Karen Fleischer of West
Bloomfield; grandchildren, Kenneth
and Amanda Schwartz, Michelle and
Meredith Fleischer.
Interment at Workmen's Circle
Cemetery. Contributions may be
made to a charity of one's choice.

JULIE L. SINGER-FREEMAN, 39,
of Huntington Woods, died Jan. 10.
For the past 17 years, Mrs. Singer-
Freeman had been a supervisor for
the Independent Living Program at
JARC.
She is survived by her husband,
Steven Freeman; son, Joshua
Freeman; parents, Robert and Doris
Singer of Huntington Woods; father-
in-law and mother-in-law, Dennis
and Barbara Freeman of West
Bloomfield; brothers-in-law and sis-
ters-in-law, Robert and Laurie

JACK JOSEPH SURNOW, former
Detroiter of Las Vegas, Nev. and
Palm Springs, Calif., died Jan. 8. He
was a real estate developer in the
Detroit area for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn
Surnow of Las Vegas; sons, Michael
Surnow and Jeffrey Surnow, both of
West Bloomfield; sister, Ann Olen of
Encino, Calif; six grandchildren.

died Jan. 7. Mrs. Wagner was an
interior designer. She was also a

and sisters-in-law, Ted and Lillian

Westland, Zachary and Amy Zakon
of Eugene, Ore.

Mrs. Weinberg was a real estate sec-
retary.

Norman and Sheila Weinberg of
West Bloomfield; grandchildren,
Stacey and Andrew Greifer, Robin
Weinberg, Darin Weinberg, Steven
and Tammy Weinberg, Kevin
Weinberg, Laura and Tony Silber;
great-grandchildren, Maya and Sari
Greifer, Lindsay Weinberg. Mrs.
Weinberg was the beloved wife of the
late Sam Weinberg and the dear sister
of the late Jack Schulman and the
late Sam Schulman.

Detroiter of Pembroke Pines, Fla.,
died Jan. 2.
He is survived by his wife Sylvia

Hochbaum; nine grandchildren.
