SAMUEL MILAN, 88, of

Farmington Hills, died Jan. 6. He
attended University of Michigan at
the age of 16. He later received his
bachelor of law and letters from the
University of Detroit. Mr. Milan
began a career in law but soon
switched to teaching, starting at
Durfee Intermediate and moving to
Central High School in 1942, where
he taught history and social studies.
He was a guidance counselor at
Central, an assistant superintendent
of Region 4, assistant principal and
then principal of Henry Ford High
School. He also taught at Yeshiva
Beth Yehudah as well as Temple Beth
El. Mr. Milan was the first director of
the JCC and Shaarey Zedek day
camps. He helped found the Harry B.
Keidan Lodge of B'nai B'rith and was
its president. In his later years. Mr.
Milan became a poet and published a
book of poems, For Sentimental

Reasons.
He is survived by his son, Gary
Milan of Beverly Hills, Calif.; daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Joyce and
Seymour Kliger of Farmington Hills;
grandchildren, Nancy Kliger, Scott
and Elayne Kliger, Jill Kliger; great-
grandsons, Nathan and Zachary
Kliger; sister, Yetta Dubin. Mr. Milan
was the beloved husband of the late
Laura Milan.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be made
to the Karmanos Cancer Institute,
18831 West 12 Mile Road, Lathrup
Village, MI 48076. Arrangements by
the Ira Kaufman Chapel.

ANN NEWMAN, 85, of Oak Park,

died Jan. 11. Mrs. Newman was a
credit investigator and a former mem-
ber of Temple Beth El.
She is survived by her husband,
Irvin Newman; sons and daughter-in-
law, Bert and Kathy Newman of West
Bloomfield, Stephen Newman of West
Bloomfield; sisters, Jenny Miller of
Fla., Fay Kahn, Rose Karden, Edie
Layne, all of Delray Beach, Fla.
Interment at Beth El Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made to
Alzheimer's Association, 17220 West
12 Mile Road, Suite 100, Southfield,
MI 48076. Arrangements by the Ira

ROSE OGUSKY, 86, of Flint, died

Jan. 7.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Ronald and Carol
Ogusky of Bloomfield Hills; grand-
children, Jeremy and Adam Ogusky.
She was the beloved wife of the late
Jess Ogusky; mother of the late Stuart
Ogusky.
Interment was held at Machpel ah
Cemetery in Flint. Contributions may
be made to Temple Shir Shalom,

Bloomfield, MI 48323. This notice

VICTORIA REMER, 88, of Livonia,

died Jan. 7. Mrs. Remer was a mem-
ber of B'nai B'rith and Livonia Senior
Citizens.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Sanford and Roseann
Remer of Caseville; daughters and
sons-in-law, Bryna and Ronald
Okerstrom of Livonia, Gloria and
Maurice Blake of Woodland Hills,
Calif.; grandchildren, Daniel and
Donna Remer, Dennis Remer, Ryan
and Erik Okerstrom, Alex and Karen
Remer, Benjamin Remer, Mandy
Remer; great-grandchildren, Dakota
Remer and Drake Remer; sister,
Rebecca Moshe of Israel. Mrs. Remer
was the beloved wife of the late
Manuel Remer; the loving mother of
the late Lawrence Remer.

EDITH ROSENTHAL, 77, of

Southfield, died Jan. 6. Mrs.
Rosenthal was a 20-year member of
Women In Community Service and
served as its president for two years.
She was also a member of Shaarey
Zedek, won the Heart of Gold Award
under Mayor Gribbs and for several
years organized the Job Corps in
Detroit.
Mrs. Rosenthal is survived by her
husband, Dr. Louis "Hudsie"
Rosenthal; sons and daughters-in-law,
David Rosenthal and Cheryl Handles
of Lafayette, Ind., Dr. Robert
Rosenthal and Dr. Marie Durbin of
Ann Arbor; daughters and son-in-law,
