USWeb is a consulting firm that
helps companies use the Internet to
their advantage. "Medium-sized to
Fortune 500 companies come to
USWeb for helping streamline their
business processes through Internet
technology," Kerr said. That includes
electronic commerce, intranets (a sys-
tern that connects company commu-
nications internally) and extranets
(which help break down the barriers
between a company and its cus-
tomers), Kerr said.
For Harley Davidson, one of its
larger clients, USWeb built a dealer
extranet that links Harley with its 800
motorcycle distributors worldwide.
From parts to repair to warranty
claims, they can now communicate
with ease, Kerr said.

unusual.
"The Internet is a very new state-
of-the-art technology that can solve
key business problems," Kerr said.
"Jeff and Scott and Jon are typical of
what's happening all over the country
— small Internet startups [by] young,
bright, visionary Internet entrepre-
neurs [who] have a vision for the
future of how Internet can really
impact businesses. It's not atypical. All
the companies we bought were found-
ed by people like Jon, Jeff and Scott."
Said Kerr, "Businesses of all sizes
are turning to Internet technology to
streamline processes and address issues
and problems they've not been able to
solve through other types of technolo-
gy. It's not a fad. There is a huge
worldwide shift towards this, and
Scott, Jeff and Jon happened to be in
the right spot at the right time." ❑

He inches forward slowly,

the boiling magma below

plunges into the chasm

flame engulfs his body.
Of course, none of this
is real. Not the missiles, the
magma, the chasm, nor the
flame. About the only thing that
is real is the boy.

RT-Set, a specialist in virtual studio
systems and a subsidiary of BVR Tech-

years ago. It has already car-

number of leading inter-

Disney and CBS. It cov-

While sales of the sys-

$50 million a year by the
turn of the century.
