the form of written essays of 2,500 to
3,000 words, or may employ other
forms of expression including, but not
limited to, video, fiction, poetry,
drama, painting or sculpture. The
winner will receive a cash award of
$2,500.
All entries must be postmarked by
Monday, March 16, 1998, accompa-
nied by a brief biographical sketch of
the entrant, school name and perma-
nent address and phone number.
Written entries must be typed and
double-spaced. Entries will be
reviewed by a panel of judges, and
the winner will be featured at AJC's
Annual Meeting in Washington,
D.C., in May 1998. Winning entries
also may be included in an upcom-
ing AJC publication.

Detroit NCSY
Event Plans

There is an Israeli Culture club meet-
ing at Southfield Lathrup High
School every other Tuesday at lunch
and every other Wednesday at lunch
at Berkley High School.
Thursday nights at 7 p.m. there
is a Teen Torah Class (TTC) at the
AJE on 12 Mile Rd. between Lahser
and Evergreen. For information,

Thursday is Chesed night, to visit
places to help out. To join, call the
NCSY office, (248) 557-NCSY.
NCSY will go on the Mildred
Levitz Scholars retreat, Dec. 28-Jan.4.
There also will be a ski trip during

Orchards kids and for the
Lovelight Foundation kids, most

Thursday, eight days prior to issue
date. The deadline for out-of-town
obituaries is 10 a.m. Tuesday, three
days prior to issue date.
All material must be typewrit-
ten, double-spaced, on 81/2 x 11
paper and include the name and
daytime telephone number of
sender.
