died Dec. 15.
She is survived by her niece and nephew,
Vasily and Raisa Stasyuk of Southfield;

MILDRED "MILLIE" BANOVITZ, 81,

of West Bloomfield, died Dec. 9. Mrs.
Banovitz was a member of Women's
American ORT, the United Jewish Appeal,
Hadassah, Acapulco Children's Home,
Salvation Army Orphanage of Acapulco and
a former member of the Tam O'Shanter
Country Club.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard
Banovitz; daughters and son-in-law, Judy
and Sandy Roth of West Bloomfield,
Beverly Banovitz of Grand Blanc; grandchil-
dren, Dr. Bruce and Stacie Roth, Dr. Brian
Roth, Lisa and Dr. Mark Rosenberg; great-
grandchildren, Alex Rosenberg, Ryan

Hadassah and Women's American ORT.
Mrs. Cutler is survived by her husband,
Maynard Cutler; sons and daughters-in-law,
Jeffrey and Robin Cutler of West
Bloomfield, Rick and Sheryl Cutler of Boca
Raton, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Susie
and Dennis Horwitz of Farmington Hills;
grandchildren, Ashley and Michael Cutler,

RALPH DAVIS, 59, of Oak Park, died

Dec. 13.
He is survived by his wife, Ilene; son and

Oak Park. He was the beloved son of the
late William and Esther Davis; son-in-law
of the late Morris and Sydelle Kosak.
Services were held at Temple Emanu-El fol-
lowed by interment in B'nai Israel
Cemetery in Novi.

ARTHUR BROWN, 75 of Huntington

Woods, died Dec. 12. He was a faculty
member of Wayne State University's College
of Education. Professor Brown was the
founding director of the Center for
Academic Ethics at the university. He
taught ethics, philosophy of education,
moral judgment in education and related
courses. He also directed many students in
their master's degree essays and doctoral dis-
sertations. From 1983-85, he was president
of WSU's University Council. He also
served on the Board of Governors
Development and Public Affairs
Committee. Professor Brown was active in
many national education leadership associa-
tions, including the Philosophy of
Education Society, Society of Professors of
Education, Phi Delta Kappa, John Dewey
Society and the Council of Learned
Societies in Education.
Professor Brown is survived by his wife,
Claire; daughter, Roberta; son, Frederic;
two grandchildren.
