SHIRLEY SELIN WARD, 75, of
Southfield, died Dec. 7. Mrs. Ward
was a public health nurse with the
Visiting Nurse Association for the city
of Detroit. She attended the
University of Michigan and graduated
from Wayne State University with a
degree in public health and then grad-
uated from Henry Ford Hospital
School of Nursing. Mrs. Ward also
operated a nursery school in Detroit
for five years and then became a
Headstart nurse for Wayne County
intermediate school district for 10
years. She was a life-time member of
Hadassah and a past president of the
Deborah Chapter. Mrs. Ward's family
dedicated a room in Hadassah
Hospital in Israel and Mrs. Ward
planted a grove of trees in Israel
through the Jewish National Fund.
She is survived by her husband of
50 years, Sanford Ward; sons and
daughter-in-law, Peter Ward and
Margaret Goldblatt of Ann Arbor,
Gerry Ward of Southfield; daughters
and sons-in-law, Carol and Andy Bass
of Bloomfield Hills, Susan and Dr.
Dennis Levin of Pacific Palisades,
Calif.; grandchildren, Zac Ward, Clea
Goldblatt, Aaron and Jennifer Bass;
brothers and sisters-in-law, David and
Bea Selin of Palm Beach, Fla., Marvin
and Harriet Selin of Ann Arbor; sister
and brother-in-law, Debbie and
Ronnie Freedman of Ann Arbor;
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Abe
Silverman and Virginia Selin.
Interment at Beth El Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made to
the Greater Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah, 5030 Orchard Lake Road,
West Bloomfield 48323, or Hospice
Home, 16250 Northland Drive, Suite
212, Southfield, MI 48075.
