Machon LTorah, the Jewish Learning
Network of Michigan, will hold an edu-
cational lunchtime conference 12:15
p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18 at the office of
Barris, Scott, Denn, & Drikes. Rabbi
Avraham Jacobovitz will lead a discus-
sion on the Eighth Principle of
Maimonides' 13 Principles of Faith.
The program will be hosted by
Morley Witus and will include a deli
lunch before the lecture. There is no

Irnai Moshe
Scholar Weekend

Rabbi Ira F. Stone, this year's
Conservative community scholar-in-res-
idence, will spend Nov. 21-22 at
Congregation B'nai Moshe and will
lead a variety of study sessions on con-
temporary themes.

On Friday, Nov. 21, the synagogue
'will hold a participatory Kabbalat
Shabbat service at 6 p.m., followed by a
_traditional Shabbat dinner with songs
led by Cantor Earl Berris. Dinner is by
prepaid reservation only. The deadline
for reservations is Nov. 18. The cost for
dinner is $15 per person for adults and
children over 12 and $5 per person for
children age 12 and under. At 7:30
ilk p.m., following dinner, Rabbi Stone will
give a talk titled "Judaism: A Religion
for Grown-Ups." Those who are inter-
ested in the program but do not wish to
attend the dinner are welcome to come
at 7:30 p.m. and hear Rabbi Stone's talk
at no charge.
At 8 p.m., B'nai Moshe will present
"Friday Night at the Mo," a Young
Adult Shabbat Service at which Rabbi
111 °- Stone will discuss "A Post-Holocaust
View of God." An interactive program
and discussion will continue after a
light kiddush.
On Saturday, Nov. 22, Rabbi Stone
will deliver the sermon following the
Torah service. His subject will be
"Theology: What Does It Matter What
We Believe?" After services there will be
a congregational kiddush followed by
✓ an in-depth presentation in which
Rabbi Stone will elaborate on the theme
of theology and personal belief
Rabbi Stone's final program will take
place 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, and will
focus on the issue of "Jewish Parenting
in the 21st Century." There is no
charge, but reservations are suggested in

order to ensure appropriate seating and
refreshments.

New Classes
At Beth Shalom

Beth Shalom Adult Education Program
will inaugurate a semester of classes
starting 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18 at
the synagogue.
The classes are Adult Bat/Bar
Mitzvah taught by Rabbi David Nelson
and Cantor Sam Greenbaum; Kosher
Cooking taught by Fred and Debbie
Goldenberg; A Film Festival for
Thought and Discussion taught by Rev.
Sammy Semp; Hebrew Bible taught by
Myron Jackler and Andrew Zack;
History of Zionism taught by Bernie
Schiff; Shabbat Zemirot taught by
Joseph Lewis; and Hebrew Language
taught by Shoshana Ben-Ozer.
There is a $10 charge for members
and a $25 charge for non-members. To
