Women in Philanthropy Sponsors
Breast Cancer Awareness Event

he Women in Philanthropy
program recently held a
breast cancer awareness
event at Temple Israel.
More than 400 patrons attended the
event presented by DMC-Sinai.
Hospital Guild, in affiliation with the
Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer
Institute. Marion Phillips and Elda
Schwartz were co-chairmen of the
program, while Cis Maisel Kellman,
Leah Snider and Barbara Stollman
were the advisers.
Elda Schwartz and David Schwartz
helped organize the breast cancer aware-
ness event.
Every patron received a pink ribbon
donated by M.B. Jewelry Design of
Southfield. "Every day more of our
loved ones struggle with this disease,"
said Rose Rita Goldman in the invo-
cation. She concluded the invocation
by adding, "Grant us with the knowl-
edge to cure this disease."
Karen Stabiner, author of To Dance
with the Devil, was the guest speaker.
"Every woman is at risk for the dis-
ease. If we want a cure, we have a
responsibility to fight," said Ms..
Stabiner.
TANGO INTO FASHION
"Tango into fashion" was the
theme for the recent Temple
Israel Sisterhood donor event.
More than 450 patrons attended
the program, which featured a
fashion show presented by
Jacobson's and coordinated by
Lori Cohen. Linda Feldman,
Barbara Horenstein and
Debra Saperstein were donor
chairmen. Some of the sister-
hood donor committee included
President Sheila Schiffer, Vice
President Nancy Jonas,
Beverly Fine, Vickie Ingber,
Marilyn Weisberg, Lin Klein,
Marilyn Rubin, Shirley
Halprin, Paulla Epstein and
Lynn Apel.
