talk about "Shortcuts to Great
Entertaining" at the next Food for
Thought program 9:30 a.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue.
Food for Thought is sponsored by
the Jewish Federation Women's
Campaign and Education Department.
Admission fee is $12, and continen-
tal breakfast will be served. Reservation

Israel Study
Set For Spring

The Interfaith Connection and
Kitchen Glamor will present 'A Taste
of Tradition: Adding a Jewish Flavor
To Your Winter Meals" 6:45-9 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Kitchen
Glamor in West Bloomfield. The pro-
gram will introduce couples of inter-
faith relationships to traditional
Chanukah and other Jewish recipes.
Mimi Markovsky, owner of Mimi's
Just Desserts and manager of Sperber's
Kosher Catering, will share her recipes
and provide a cooking demonstration
and tasting. There will also be a raffle
for gift certificates to Kitchen Glamor.
A Taste of Tradition is free of
charge. For reservations by Nov. 5, call

Project Discovery, the semester-in-
Israel program for high school stu-
dents, is taking enrollment for spring.
An information meeting about the
program, which is open to 10th and
11th graders, will take place 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Max M.
Fisher Federation Building, 6735
Telegraph. Bloomfield Hills.
Participants in Project Discovery
continue their regular high school cur-
riculum, combined with study of
Hebrew, Israel and Jerusalem. There
also are tours throughout Israel and an
opportunity to stay three weeks with
an Israeli host family. Hiking, camel
rides, an archeological dig, boating
down the Jordan River and visits to
government buildings and Jewish sites
are included.
Cost of the program is $6,500 plus
airfare. A $2,000 subsidy is provided
by the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit for each partici-
pant. Students in the program receive
full high school credit.
Application deadline is Monday,

Two Events

The Ecumenical Institute for
Jewish-Christian Studies will present a
program titled "Did You Hear The
One About the Rabbi, the Priest and
the Minister?. . .A Frank Discussion of
Issues of the Day." Father John Christ
(St. Dennis Parish), the Rev. Richard
Kurrasch (First Congregational-
-- —
Church), Rabbi David Nelson
(Congregation Beth Shalom), and the
Rev. Louis Thompson (First
Presbyterian Church) will speak about
current issues from the perspective of
their various religious traditions.
The two-part program will take
place on Wednesdays, Nov. 12 and 19,

Jewish Art in America will be the topic
of a talk by Esther Tarnoff Cooper at
Beth Abraham Hillel Moses' Sisterhood
