New Service:
ElderLink

ElderLink, a new phone line to pro-
vide information on and referrals to
older adult services, will go into opera-
=don on Monday, Nov. 3.
A service of the Jewish Federation's
Commission on Jewish Eldercare
Services, the professionally-staffed
phone line will refer older adults or
their caregivers to agencies in the
Jewish and general communities.
Carol Kaczander and Linda Bibbs,
both with social service training, will
staff the ElderLink line.
0 The new phone line can find agen-
cies that deal with social services,
meals and nutrition, in-home support,
housing, new American resettlement,
case management (coordination of ser-
vices to older, frail or disabled per-
sons), health and medical care, legal
aid, social and recreational programs,
opportunities for people with disabili-
ties and more.
Participating Jewish community
agencies will contact the caller directly
following an ElderLink referral to
determine eligibility and which ser-
°vices are needed. These agencies
) include COJES members: Jewish
Community Center, Jewish Family
Service, Jewish Federation
Apartments, Jewish Home and Aging
Services, Jewish Vocational Service as
well as DMC-Sinai Hospital.
Among the general community
agencies to which referrals can be
made are the Alzheimer's Association,
Area Agency on Aging, Hospice of
r- Southeastern Michigan, Mature
Minglers and Oakland County
Veterans Services.
A telephone sticker also is available.
For information and referrals to
agencies dealing with senior adult
issues, call ElderLink, (248) 559-
