New Service: ElderLink ElderLink, a new phone line to pro- vide information on and referrals to older adult services, will go into opera- =don on Monday, Nov. 3. A service of the Jewish Federation's Commission on Jewish Eldercare Services, the professionally-staffed phone line will refer older adults or their caregivers to agencies in the Jewish and general communities. Carol Kaczander and Linda Bibbs, both with social service training, will staff the ElderLink line. 0 The new phone line can find agen- cies that deal with social services, meals and nutrition, in-home support, housing, new American resettlement, case management (coordination of ser- vices to older, frail or disabled per- sons), health and medical care, legal aid, social and recreational programs, opportunities for people with disabili- ties and more. Participating Jewish community agencies will contact the caller directly following an ElderLink referral to determine eligibility and which ser- °vices are needed. These agencies ) include COJES members: Jewish Community Center, Jewish Family Service, Jewish Federation Apartments, Jewish Home and Aging Services, Jewish Vocational Service as well as DMC-Sinai Hospital. Among the general community agencies to which referrals can be made are the Alzheimer's Association, Area Agency on Aging, Hospice of r- Southeastern Michigan, Mature Minglers and Oakland County Veterans Services.
