and expensive spreads. I even had
smoked salmon once at a U-M tailgate.
7's,ASU alumni can't compare to what U-
M's do.
Unfortunately for the Wolverine stu-
dents, they are without a true tailgating
spot.
At MSU, the inmates run the asylum
-- known as Munn Field. Located between
the Breslin Center basketball arena and
Spartan Stadium, it holds a simpler type
of tailgating for the thousands that take
7:2part. It is a feast of barbequed food and
adult beverages, where people stroll
around and talk to everyone.
Advantage: Technically, even.
Realistically, that depends on who you
ye. I've been to both, and can safely say
that I enjoy fun over expensive food
I and drink. The smoked salmon was
good, but it's a ball game, not a bar
mitzvah.

lost-Game
So the couch burning on Gunson
Street in East Lansing wasn't one of the
more stellar moments for Spartans. I
was at that week's game, but I wasn't
,:involved, or even in the city. I have an
alibi to prove it.
It came after a lopsided Sept. 6 win
over Western Michigan, and some stu-
dents got out of hand. And it likely
could have happened after a loss too.
State students used to go to the game
to enjoy themselves and hope to win.
Now the fans expect to win and take it
seriously as U-M fans do, but can
I still enjoy themselves after a loss.
After a Michigan loss, I've driven
through Ann Arbor and accidentally
mistook it for a morgue. Hey, it's only a
0-me.
- Advantage: Michigan State
The Game
Oh yeah, there's football to be played
tomorrow.
,--' In a nutshell: Both teams have great
running games, both teams have aggres-
ive, quick defenses and both teams
have above-average quarterbacks who
don't always win the game, but don't
often lose them either. Michigan is 6-0
and ranked fifth in the country, but
playing only their second road game
this year. Plus, playing at Indiana isn't
nearly as imposing as East Lansing will

13e.

1 The games in the past few years that

have come down to a defensive struggle,
State has won. Because both teams'
defenses are so good, it may come down
:`yet another defensive showdown.
Homefield advantage is enough to
D the trick.
Final score: MSU 17, Michigan
