BAHM Babies
Are Welcomed
Congregation Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses will hold a Welcome to the
World ceremony to bless and welcome
the newest members to the congrega-
tion. Rabbi Aaron Bergman will bless
all children born within the last two
years in a special welcoming ceremony
8:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18. Big
brothers and sisters will also be given
an opportunity to participate in the
festivities.
A kiddush lunch in the children's
honor will follow.
Simchat Torah
Dinner Planned
Congregation Beth Achim will cele-
brate Simchat Torah with a vegetarian
dinner 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23.
Minchah service will begin the
evening, followed by dinner at 6 p.m.
After dinner, Israeli flags will be hand-
ed out to children and adults for
Ma'ariv and Hakafot, the seven circles
of the Torahs.
Simchat Torah observance will con-
tinue Friday, Oct. 24 with services at
8:45 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. A pizza lunch
will be served on Friday. There is a
charge for the dinner.

City-Wide
Shabbat Event
Congregation Beth Achim will partici-
pate in the city-wide program called
"Rekindling Shabbat." Special Shabbat
activities will take place on the last
weekend of each month, with the first
event Saturday, Oct. 25. Religious
school students will put on a program
on the meaning of Shabbat.

Adat Shalom Synagogue will join in
the community program, beginning
with a Shabbat afternoon celebration
5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. Starting
with Minchah, families will gather in
the main sanctuary for a brief service
led by Adat Shalom children.
Minchah will be followed by a grand
se'udah, for a light supper. Ma'ariv
will be followed by Havdalah and a
melave malkah, with singing and
dancing led by Israeli dance duo,
Shelly Komer Jackier and Avi Zechory.
The evening will end at approximately
8:15 p.m.
Dinner reservations for the Oct. 25
program are required. There is a $6
charge for adults and a $4 fee for chil-
dren. The community is welcome.
