Playwright-Rabbi
At Services
Daniel Brenner, playwright as well as
rabbi, will join Congregation
T'chiyah for the High Holidays this
year. A graduate of the
Reconstructionist Rabbinical
College, in Philadelphia, and the
Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies,
in Jerusalem, Rabbi Brenner has seen
six plays he has written performed
in community and commercial
theater. He also has perf6rmed
original material with his guitar in
London, Jerusalem and the United
States.
Congregation T'chiyah, a member
o the Jewish Reconstructionist
Federation, is an egalitarian syna-
gogue based on maintaining Jewish
traditions. Non-members are invited
to attend high Holiday services.
Services for erev Rosh Hashanah,
8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1; the
first day of Rosh Hashanah, 10
a.m. Thursday, Oct 2; Yom Kippur,
10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 will
be held at the Royal Oak Women's
Club, 404 Pleasant and Fourth
St.
The remaining services will be
held at the Wayne County Medical
Society building, 1010 Antietam,
south of Gratiot and east of 1-375.
These include second day of Rosh
Hashanah, 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3;
(followed by the congregational
lunch and Tashlich at the Detroit
River); erev Yom Kippur (Kol
Nidre) service, 6:30 p.m. Friday,
Oct. 10.

ffnai Moshe
Family Shabbat
Congregation B'nai Moshe is Family
Shabbat services will begin this
Shabbat, Sept. 27. Services will be
offered by grade level. On each
Family Shabbat date there will be
two services for different age groups,
each 50 minutes long.
On Saturday, Sept. 27, the sched-
ule is as follows: From 9:50 to
10:40 a.m., there will be a service
for families with children who are
pre-kindergarten through grade 2.
From 10:40 to 11:30 a.m. there will
be a service for families with children
in grades 3 and 4. No reservations
are necessary and everyone is wel-
come, regardless of synagogue affilia-
tion.
B'nai Moshe Family Shabbat
Services are led by teacher Michael
Weiss and consist of relaxed prayer,
song, Torah study, and family time
with a Shabbat theme. For a com-

Institute
Plans Services
Sholem Aleichem Institute will have
its annual holiday assembly at the
Orchard Lake Middle School in West
Bloomfield, 10 a.m.-noon Thursday,
Oct. 2. A specially prepared machzor \-)
containing material culled from old
and new Jewish sources, and Hebrew
and Yiddish prose and poetry will be
used.

Selichot
At BAHM
There will be a Selichot presentation
titled "The Un-Binding of Isaac," 9
p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at
Congregation Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses. It will be facilitated by Rabbi
Aaron Bergman.
Refreshments will be served. The
event is free and the public is invit-
ed. Selichot services will follow at 11
p.m.
