DMC/SINAI CONDUCTS TAY SACHS SCREENING
Sunday, September 7, 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
At Jewish Community Center in Oak Park
The Detroit Medical Center/Sinai Hospital is conducting a
Tay Sachs screening at the Jewish Community Center's Jimmy
Prentis Morris Building in Oak Park on Sunday, September 7
between 12:30-3:00 p.m.
The blood screening tests will be administered in Room 124
for anyone age 17 and older who is considering marriage or
pregnancy.
The test is strictly confidential and is being offered for $25,
significantly lower than the standard charge.
Tay Sachs is an inherited disease that strikes the nervous sys-
tem in children, preventing the break down of fat in nerve
cells. Jews of Ashkenazi descent are at higher risk of carrying
Tay Sachs, and since there is no cure or treatment for this
disease, identifying possible carriers is very important.
For more information, call Robin Gold at Sinai (313) 493-6060.
