Baby, Wait

The coolest thing on the airwaves re-
cently, the Philly-based Huffamoose
is a convergence of opposites: They are
what happens when a three-piece jazz
ensemble forms an alternative band.
Says Kevin Hanson (second from left
and lead guitar) of Huffamoose's song
"Wait": "It's about my girlfriend being
a really good dancer. When she gets out
there, everybody else clears the floor.
And all the other guys with the hip
moves check her out — and I feel like a
jerk." Check them out at two separate
performances: 10 p.m. Thursday, Sept.
4, $8, at the Ark, 316 S. Main, Ann Ar-
bor, (313) 761-1451; or 8 p.m. Friday,
Sept. 5, $8, at 7th House, 7 N. Saginaw,
