DR. SHELDON J. LACH-
MAN, 75, of Versailles, Ky.,

formerly of Ann Arbor, died
Aug. 25. Dr. Lachman was a
psychologist and full professor
at Wayne State University; he
was the longest-tenured pro-
fessor (1947-1994) of any de-
partment. He was a graduate
of the University of Michigan
with a bachelor's of science,
master's of science and Ph.D.
He was a sergeant in the Unit-
ed States Air Force during
World War II, and was sta-
tioned in Guam. Dr. Lachman
was commissioned by the
United States Department of
Labor to do a survey of the
1967 race riots, which was
published. He also wrote many
books, including Foundations
of Science, which was pub-
lished in eight languages and
used in many foreign coun-
tries, and Fundamentals of
Psychosomatic Pathology. Dr.
Lachman had recently com-
pleted a history of the Psychol-
ogy Department at Wayne
State University.
Dr. Lachman is survived by
his wife, Ann Lachman; sisters
and brothers-in-law, Shirley and
Nathan Fink of Bloomfield Hills,
Joyce and Dr. Jack Morof.
Interment at Clover Hill
Park Cemetery. Contributions
may be made to Wayne State
University, Department of Psy-
chology, 71 West Warren, De-
troit, MI 48202. Arrangements
by the Ira Kaufman Chapel.

GRACE MATH, 78, of Oak

Park, died Aug. 23.
She is survived by her hus-
band, Joe L. Math; son and
daughter-in-law, Paul and Mar-
sha Math of Oak Park; sister,
Sarah Glicklin of Walnut
Creek, Calif.; grandchildren,
Danielle and Todd. Mrs. Math
was the loving mother of the
late Sanford Math and the late
Jerome Math.
Contributions may be made
to Jewish National Fund,
17100 West 10 Mile Road,
Southfield, MI 48075. Services
and interment were held at
Beth Tefilo Emanuel Cemetery
in Ferndale.

MAX MONDSIENE, 85, for-

mer Detroiter, of Delray Beach,
Fla., died Aug. 19.
He is survived by his son and
daughter-in-law, Gary and
Maxine Mondshine of South-
field; daughters and sons-in-
law, Sharon and Saul Chudnow
of Oak Park, Judith and Syd-
ney Weinstein of West Bloom-
field, Deyna and David Vesey of
Upper Mt. Clair, N.J.; grand-
children, Alan and Edie Chud-
now, Laurie Chudnow, Steven
Chudnow, Linda Weinstein
(Steven Miner), Karen Wein-
stein, Michael Weinstein,
Melanie Vesey, Nick Vesey, Joe
Vesey, Sam Mondshine; Mr.
Mondshine was the beloved
husband of the late Rose Mond-
shine. Contributions may be
made to Juvenile Diabetes As-

GEORGE MORRIS, 88, of

Commerce Township, died Aug.
13.
He is survived by his wife,
Ruth Morris; son, Elie Morris of
Farmington Hills; daughter
and son-in-law, Beth and Jude
Timlin of Bloomfield Hills;
brother-in-law and sister-in-
law, Milton and Shirley Stein;
grandchildren, Andy, Marty,
Jesse and Nathan.
