turn and other skills, depend-
ing on the ability of the partici-

* The City of Birmingham
is hosting Concerts in the
Park, every Thursday night un-
til Sept. 4. Concerts begin at
7:30 p.m. and are free. You
can bring along snacks or a pic-
nic dinner and introduce your
children to the joy of listening
to different kinds of music. If
Fridays are better for your fam-
ily, you can still find something
to do in Birmingham because
the city also hosts a series of
fun entertainment events,
"Summer in the City," for fam-

ilies every Friday evening, at
6:30 p.m., from July 11 until
Aug. 29. The series includes
music, dance, theater and pup-
petry. Performances will be
held on the steps of City Hall,
located at 151 Martin Street in
downtown. Audience partici-
pation is encouraged. It's great
fun for a family to sing, dance
and act silly together. If you go,
bring your lawn chair or a
blanket.
